NAMIS is an international research network on Nano and Micro Systems initiated by the french National Center of Scientific Research (CNRS) and the Institute of Industrial Sciences (IIS) of the University of Tokyo. NAMIS was officially founded November the 2th, 2005 by 6 European and Asian organizations: CNRS (France), IIS/University of Tokyo (Japan), EPFL (Switzerland), IMTEK (Germany), SNU (Korea) and VTT (Finland). In the 2006-2010 period, new organizations from Canada, Korea, France, Japan, Taiwan and USA successively joined NAMIS. In 2016 MESA+ from Netherlands joined NAMIS network. NAMIS now involves 12 core partners from 10 countries.

We believe that NAMIS is providing a frame for fruitful international scientific relationships in the leading-edge field of micro and nano systems. The goals of the networking activity of NAMIS are:

• To stimulate scientific exchanges through the organisation of common workshops, international schools,  seminars and laboratory visits.
• To promote and organize mobility within the network of PhD students, post-docs and visiting researchers.
• To settle joint research projects able to tackle challenging topics owing to the complementary expertises of  partners.
• To rely on the official NAMIS agreement to have access to national projects with invited NAMIS partners.
• To allows a sharing of know-how and simulation/fabrication/test resources
